Description

Oral Treatment for Type 2 Diabetes Management

Rybelsus is a prescription medicine containing semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist used alongside diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with Type 2 diabetes. It is the first oral form of semaglutide available as a once-daily tablet.

Rybelsus is available in three strengths:

Rybelsus 3mg tablets

Rybelsus 7mg tablets

Rybelsus 14mg tablets

It is prescribed as part of a dose escalation schedule to improve tolerability and reduce gastrointestinal side effects.

What Is Rybelsus Used For?

Rybelsus is indicated for adults with Type 2 diabetes mellitus to:

Improve blood glucose (blood sugar) control alongside diet and exercise.

Reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events in certain adults with Type 2 diabetes who are at high cardiovascular risk (depending on local regulatory approvals).

Rybelsus is not approved for:

Type 1 diabetes

Diabetic ketoacidosis

General weight loss treatment without a healthcare provider's supervision

How Does Rybelsus Work?

Rybelsus contains semaglutide, which mimics the natural GLP-1 hormone in the body.

It works by:

Stimulating insulin release when blood sugar is high

Reducing excess glucose production by the liver

Slowing stomach emptying

Helping control appetite and food intake
